Bobot's O-Gauge Train Layout
August 2002 Update

Below you see the layout as of August 2002. I have finished laying the track in the yard,
added a support section to the middle for a small town, and ran
trains of all sizes and configurations to recognize the advantages, disadvantages,
and limitations to the layout. I wanted to be able to have a lot of engines and
rolling stock on the layout and that I have! Maybe a little too much...?

By the way, I am proud to say that the control panel, switches,
and wiring works flawlessly. After all the time, effort, planning, and money
it's good to see a plan come together!

Please overlook the road buckling. I was just playing with the paper
roads and laying them out to get some ideas. The town area is still under construction.

The picture at the left shows the completed yard with all (5) legs filled with various rolling stock. The Post-War Celebration Series Command-Control Seaboard 6250 Switcher, with engineer, awaits its orders to make a train for the mainlines.

O-42 Ross Custom Switches were used in the yard to get more efficient track spacing.

The view to the right shows the east of the layout where things can get a little congested at times with all the sidings and switches. Here you can also see the triangular-shaped carpet-covered support piece I put in place in the center to make room for a small town. The houses are MTH RailKing and the vehicles a combination of MatchBox RoadKings and some little VW bugs I found at the local hobby shop. I'm still playing with the placement of the paper roads.

To the left you see a working yard scene. Workmen unload freight from the gondolas, break down the shipping cartons, sort the goods, and load them to the appropriate trucks for transport.

Here you see a view of the MTH houses in town overlooking the freight yard and workers. Many trains pass in the background.
